The title of this song is from the Sweet Gum tree (which can be seen on the cover of Marvalon) in front of the family cabin outside Syria, Virginia, very close to the Shenandoah National Park. The aforementioned album was mostly written and recorded on the front porch over two afternoons.
Anyhow, this is the place I am happiest and most relaxed. So relaxed, in fact, that I went against my best songwriting judgement (and with my worst instincts) and added a jam out at the end.
