The song is structured around a basic finger picking pattern and a melody that returns in themes. Most important-wrote it around some left hand chords that felt good under my fingers. I sketched out a few sea themed lyrics that emerged against the melodies and then filled the rest out with some words the Choose Your Own Adventure book "Return to Atlantis" that my son Peter had lying around. Like the rest I recorded this with an acoustic originally. After tanking a few takes with a bad note 3 minutes in (a dozen times it seemed) and also not finding the best takes full enough, I decided to do bigger arrangements. Recorded the guitar part with my new Sheraton rather than an acoustic. I ran some backwards parts of the linen panned and reversed for some atmosphere. Also added some electronic drums, bass and a few keyboard parts with my Yamaha SY-77. Sort of found a Robert Wyatt vibe which makes sense because I been listening the hell out of his music lately.
